One Degree at a time
My husband and I were watching a show recently about airplanes. We learned that the flight paths are projected to the degree, and when a flight veers off by even a couple degrees, the flight path changes more drastically the longer it goes uncorrected. A small change can change the trajectory.
This is a concept that is true for us as we begin to make changes in our lives in regard to finances. What we do today to put us on a different trajectory may be so small, the changes seem unnoticeable. But the more we improve our habits, spending or otherwise, the bigger difference those changes will make later. Small changes today followed by small changes the day after will help us achieve goals we didn’t think we could achieve days, weeks, months, years later.
We can set goals to achieve in a year, but unless we start working towards those the day we set them, it’s unlikely we’ll achieve them. Breaking down a big goal into many smaller ones makes it more achievable. And when we make those seemingly insignificant changes that move us one degree closer to the place we want to be, when we do that over and over again, we will get there. Eventually we will achieve that big goal we dared to make.
Make a financial goal, or make several. Take steps to achieve them. If you need a little help deciding which way to move a degree at a time, chat with a financial coach who can help you get closer to the trajectory you want to be on.
